So far, what has been sampled from Zakkushi was not disappointing. However, I will reserve this post to mention a menu item that I would definitely not recommend. This dish is known as Satoimo, which is simply deep fried taro balls with a side of green tea matcha powder and salt for dipping.
I expected this dish to be sweet, as in the case of purple taro to which I am accustomed. However, this was probably a different strain of taro as it was white and very, very bland. I will liken the taste of these taro balls to stiff dough balls. The side of matcha powder and salt did not help and perhaps only made it worse.
